What time is it in Mountain Time right now?

The converter runs on America/Denver, the IANA zone that encodes every clock change on file. That zone knows two offsets: MST (UTC-7) from November to March, MDT (UTC-6) from March to November.

Enter a time and a date. The converter picks the right offset for that day.

The date matters.

On 15 January 2026, Denver is on MST, UTC-7. On 15 July 2026, Denver is on MDT, UTC-6. A converter that ignores the date will be wrong half the year.

MST to Eastern Time

Mountain is always 2 hours behind Eastern. When it is 10:00 AM in Denver, it is 12:00 PM in New York. Book a 9:00 AM Eastern call? That is 7:00 AM in Denver. See the /mst-to-est converter for the full table.

MST to Pacific Time

Mountain is 1 hour ahead of Pacific. When it is 10:00 AM in Denver, it is 9:00 AM in Los Angeles. The /mst-to-pst page shows every hour.

MST to Central Time

Mountain is 1 hour behind Central. When it is 10:00 AM in Denver, it is 11:00 AM in Chicago. Use /mst-to-cst for the breakdown.

These gaps stay the same all year because all four US zones change clocks on the same dates. The exception: Arizona.

MST to GMT and UTC

When Denver is on MST in winter, Mountain is UTC-7. When Denver is on MDT in summer, Mountain is UTC-6. The /mst-to-gmt page handles this automatically. Skip manual mental math. Enter the date and let the converter apply the correct offset.

MST to IST

India is UTC+5:30 year-round. In winter the difference is 12 hours 30 minutes. In summer it is 11 hours 30 minutes. The /mst-to-ist converter accounts for the shift. Get this wrong and you will miss a meeting by a full hour.

MST to London, Tokyo, Sydney and more

The offset changes twice a year. The converter checks the date and applies the correct math.

On 15 January 2026, relative to MST, London is 7 hours ahead and Tokyo is 16 hours ahead.

On 15 July 2026, relative to MDT, Dubai is 10 hours ahead and Sydney is 16 hours ahead.

Enter one time and date. The converter shows the equivalent time in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, London, Paris, Dubai, Mumbai, Singapore, Tokyo, Sydney, Johannesburg and São Paulo simultaneously.

When does Mountain Time change its clocks?

MST becomes MDT on the second Sunday of March at 2:00 AM local time. In 2026, that is 8 March. Clocks spring forward to 3:00 AM.

MDT reverts to MST on the first Sunday of November at 2:00 AM local time. In 2026, that is 1 November. Clocks fall back to 1:00 AM.

In 2027 the spring change lands on 14 March. The fall change lands on 7 November.

The converter handles these transitions. Enter a time on 8 March 2026 at 1:30 AM. The converter knows that 30 minutes later the offset changes. It does not guess.

Why doesn't Arizona change its clocks?

Arizona does not observe DST. Phoenix stays on MST (UTC-7) year-round. From March to November, Phoenix matches Pacific Time. From November to March, Phoenix matches the rest of Mountain Time.

Arizona exempted itself from DST in 1968. The rationale: extra evening daylight in extreme summer heat increases air conditioning consumption rather than reducing energy use.

The Navajo Nation within Arizona does observe DST. The Hopi Reservation, surrounded by Navajo, does not. The result is a DST doughnut inside the state.

How to convert Mountain Time without mistakes

Always specify whether you mean MST or MDT when converting manually. The abbreviation MST alone is ambiguous during summer months. Write "Mountain Standard Time" for winter, "Mountain Daylight Time" for summer, or "Mountain Time" as the umbrella term.

Use the converter with a date. Entering "convert 2:00 PM MST" without a date forces the converter to guess. Most assume standard time. That is wrong for June through September.

Check the city. Denver, Calgary, Edmonton and Ciudad Juárez follow the same DST rules. Phoenix, Tucson, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale and Scottsdale do not. The converter asks which city you mean, because the same zone name can mean different things.

Book meetings by city, not by zone abbreviation. If you schedule with people in Phoenix, Calgary and Denver, do not rely on a single "Mountain Time" conversion. Check Phoenix separately during summer. Phoenix will be one hour behind the others.

Is Mountain Time the same as Pacific Time in summer?

No. Denver on MDT (UTC-6) matches Chicago on CST, not Los Angeles. Phoenix on MST (UTC-7) matches Los Angeles on PDT, but Phoenix is not on Pacific Time. Saying "Arizona is on Pacific Time in summer" is wrong. Arizona stays on MST. Pacific switches to PDT. Same clock reading, different zone name.

What is the difference between MST and MDT?

MST is Mountain Standard Time, UTC-7, used from November to March. MDT is Mountain Daylight Time, UTC-6, used from March to November. The difference is one hour.

Does the converter work for past and future dates?

Yes. The IANA database includes historical and future DST rules. The converter works for any date from 1970 onward.

What happens during the DST transition days?

On the spring forward day, the hour from 2:00 AM to 3:00 AM does not exist in MDT. On the fall back day, the hour from 1:00 AM to 2:00 AM occurs twice in MST. The converter accounts for both.

What cities are in Mountain Time?

Denver, Colorado Springs, Aurora and Albuquerque follow America/Denver rules: MST in winter, MDT in summer. El Paso does too. Phoenix, Tucson, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale and Scottsdale stay on MST year-round. Calgary and Edmonton follow the same DST schedule as Denver. Ciudad Juárez aligns with El Paso and observes DST.
